MADE Trek
MADE Trek, what is it?
A true paradise for hikers, hundreds of trails winding between fantastic limestone cliffs and timeless valleys, the MADE Trek represents one of the most representative routes to experience the essence of this magical Alpine land.
MADE, an acronym for Malga and Alm Desired Experience, is a multi-day alpine tour, among the mountain huts and alps that dot the Carnic Alps. A fantastic trek, characterised by breathtaking panoramas, rustic and lively mountain huts, malghe and casere where you can savour the atmosphere of the past, with a constant sense of excitement for what lies around the next bend or the next pass, and the satisfaction of travelling on foot through this beautiful and remote area. This journey, which runs mainly from west to east, crosses the Carnic Alps, trespassing at several points on the peaks of neighbouring Carinthia, passing through the Monte Terzo Park and numerous sites included in the Natura 2000 network and identified as highly protected areas of Community interest.
Spread over a total of 125 kilometres, with this proposal we will cover the most representative and evocative 75 kilometres of the route, reaching the highest point at 2,367 metres. The grandeur of the landscapes and the variety of the terrain on this route are matched only by the warmth and hospitality offered by the mountain huts and alpine pastures at the end of the day.
The unusual contrasts in the landscapes, the changing colours and textures of the mountains, and the curious mix of Italian and Austrian influences make this hike fantastic, amidst breathtaking scenery and the rich cuisine of the refuges!
